EC meets political parties on compilation of a new voters’ register.

The Electoral Commission (EC) is holding a meeting with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) on the impending registration of voters. The only item on the agenda at the meeting, which has been divided into two groups of eight political parties, is an update on the 2020 registration exercise. The government has not yet taken a decision on the evacuation of stranded Ghanaians abroad, a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Charles Owiredu, has said. The Western Region Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS)has arrested a 53-year-old Ghanaian residing in Takoradi, one Kojo Sakyi, for allegedly defrauding scores of unsuspecting youth under the pretext of securing them jobs within the Service. Three persons including a one-year-old boy have lost their lives in an accident on the Nsawam-Adeiso road in the Eastern Region.
