GhMediaHubCristiano Ronaldo turns 35-years-old today and it’s only right that we celebrate him on his birthday.
After all, many football fans argue that he’s the greatest player of all-time.
During an 18 year career, he’s played for three of the biggest clubs in the world and won a ridiculous 19 major trophies.
Ronaldo is a five-time Champions League winner, has won three Premier League titles, two La Ligas and one Serie A crown.
He’s scooped six domestic cups and has been a club world champion on four separate occasions.
Oh, and he’s also a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, winning two international trophies with Portugal. How astonishing.
Ronaldo’s goalscoring stats are simply out of this world too.
The Portuguese superstar has scored 623 goals for his clubs – those being Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
On the international stage, no one comes close. CR7 has netted 99 times for his country and is one goal off reaching a century.
Very few players make 100 appearances for their nation, let alone score 100 international goals.
He needs just 11 goals to overtake Ali Daei as the greatest international goalscorer in history and it’s looking highly likely he’ll do that, adding another personal record to his incredible haul.
But now he’s turning 35 you’d expect Ronaldo to start winding down, right? Wrong.
The man is only getting better with age. At 35, many players are probably making retirement plans.
But not Ronaldo. He’ll still be putting in the work on the training pitch every single day. He’s been doing that for over two decades now, so why break the habit of a lifetime?
We don’t know how many more years the footballing icon will play at the top level but don’t bet against him sitting atop the mountain for at least a couple more seasons.
He could retire today and be hailed by many as the greatest of all-time. But we bet that thought has never even crossed his mind.
So there’s only one thing left to say really – happy 35th birthday, Cristiano Ronaldo!
