First Lady cancels International Women’s event over Coronavirus fears

Ghana’s First Lady Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has called off the International Women’s Day High Level Event scheduled for Labadi Beach Hotel this evening following the announcement of two confirmed cases of novel coronavirus in Ghana.

A statement from the Secretariat reads “The office of the First Lady wishes to announce the cancellation of the International Women’s Day High Level Event scheduled for Labadi Beach Hotel this evening.

This is in view of the confirmed cases of COVID19 in Ghana, announced by the Health Minister yesterday.

 The Office of the First Lady entreats all Ghanaians to take good care of themselves by strictly adhering to the following precautionary measures as outlined by the Minister of Health

·      Regular and thorough washing of hands with soap under running water and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers

·      Avoid shaking of hands

·      Keep a distance of two meters from person with fever, cough, sneezing and difficult in breathing.

·      It is advisable to be physically active, drink plenty of water, eat healthy, avoid stress and have enough sleep.
