Shatta Wale says he’s grateful Beyonce’s team bypassed ‘industry gatekeepers’

Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Charles Nii-Armah Mensah, popularly
known as Shatta Wale, has alleged that Ghanaian ‘industry gatekeepers’ would have blacklisted him if Beyonce’s team had approached them before giving him a feature on her song, ‘Already’.

He said: “For instance, see when Beyonce wanted to do a song with me if she had made a mistake and her team had gone to Mark Okraku-Mantey, Andy Dosty, The Don and those people, I am dead. They will tell Beyonce, he is an armed robber, your skin, he will touch it, and you will be dirty.”

Shatta also claimed that he made no money from his song ‘Bandana from Ghana’ when the current Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Mark Okraku-Mantey, was his
distributor. He also asked the government to take him out of his current position and claimed Mark has a personal problem with him.

“I did not even make 1 pesewa, and Mark Okraku-Mantey was my distributor. I have a problem with that guy. Government has to take him from that post.”

He also added that an incident at Mark’s office when he went for proceeds from his music suggested that they did not have his best interest.

“The day I went to Mark’s office, he had an old man. The old man told me that(Shatta quoting the man in Twi) ‘if you guys get someone to help you, then you want to check what you are getting’. I met Mark and told Mark that this is what your guy is talking about and he should talk to him. Mark was like why am I being rude about the whole matter.”

Shatta Wale is set to release the Gift of God Album on 17th October 2022, having already released the album cover.
