Philip Atta Basoah, Member of Parliament for Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, has passed away at the age of 53 at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. His family confirmed his death earlier today, March 28th.
Basoah was absent during a crucial parliamentary vote last week to confirm ministerial appointees of President Akufo-Addo. His absence was notable, and his colleagues’ attempts to locate him proved futile until they found him collapsed in his room.
He was rushed to the hospital in a coma, and while plans were underway to transfer him for further care, he died. The cause of his death is yet to be disclosed.
