The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked the Electoral Commission(EC) of Ghana to ensure that it’s fair in its dealings in the handling of the impending elections.
According to him, Ghanaians are expecting the elections to be conducted in a free and fair manner so that the results will reflect the will of the Ghanaian people.
“What the Ghanaian people are expecting is that the election of December will be an election that will is conducted in peace, in freedom, in security and in transparency so that the results of the election will reflect the will of the Ghanaian people. Elections are not meant to be decided by you, or the officials that work for you. You are the referees in the contest.”
The President made this known when he went to the Commission to file his nomination for Election 2020.
The President is expecting be cleared to lead the NPP to beat his main opponent John Dramani Mahama who his defeated in 2016 with a margin of one million votes.
The President was in the company of his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when he presented his forms on day 2 of the filing of nomination forms.
Receiving the nomination forms, the Chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, disclosed that two vetting teams have been set up to audit the nomination forms of all the aspirants for later confirmation.
