President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured citizens that the country will fully benefit from the yet to be released COVID-19 vaccine.
“Ghana, I assure you is not going to be left behind in having access to the vaccine”, President Akufo- Addo said this in his 20th address to the nation on the measures taken to curb the spread of the Coronavirus Sunday evening.
The President continued with his assurance saying though there is so much anxiety among some Ghanaians about the safety and the efficacy of the vaccines, the government will everything possible to protect all citizens as the country prepare to deploy the newly developed cure to the pandemic.
“I’m aware of the anxiety relating to the safety and efficacy the newly developed vaccine. Government will ensure that the COVID 19 vaccines to be deployed in the country are effective and are safe. To this end, I‘ve put together a team of experts from the relevant institutions and agencies who are working acidulously towards the procurement and deployment of the vaccines in Ghana” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo assured Ghanaians in his address.
The president in his address also noted that the Ministry of Information led by Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah will brief the nation on the matter from time to time.
President Akufo- Addo whiles speaking on the Christmas Celebrations urged Ghanaians to continue to adhere to the COVID 19 safety protocols to avoid the spread of the novel virus.
As of December 19, a total of 1,691,206 were reported to have died globally.
