Former President of Ghana and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has said that it’s time for the party to close its ranks and work to guarantee unity in the political party
To him, unity is what will sustain the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Jerry John Rawlings who was the founder has left behind.
The NDC leader made this known in a tribute to the late former President who he describes as his boss.
He said “For those of us the comrades you’ve left behind, it is time to close ranks and collectively work to guarantee the unity and survival of your party NDC as a vehicle that entrenches your memory and legacy for posterity”.
John Dramani Mahama noted that although Jerry Jon Rawlings is no more, his legacy will continue to inspire several generations.
“Boss” – you may be gone but your memory will continue to inspire countless generations of Ghanaians to challenge the status quo and use their non-conformism to spur societal progress. You were and remain the soldier of a lifelong and restless quest for freedom and justice.”
Jerry John Rawlings died on November 12, 2020 after a short illness.
The late former President was buried on January 27, 2021 at the Military cemetery in Accra.
Prior to the death of Jerry John Ralings, his relationship with the political party he formed was not the best as he disagreed with the party’s leadership on a number of issues.
Also, some leading members have turned their back on the party and have since criticized the party’s every move because they are hurt by the actions of some members of the party.
