GhMediaHubThe Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has received a $34.4 million contribution from the Government of Japan to improve food security and nutrition of people in emergency settings.
The contribution will fund 17 country and regional projects in regions such as Near East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Oceania, and Europe.
The interventions range from emergency livelihood assistance, supporting conflict-affected communities, flood-affected communities, vulnerable herding populations, recovery efforts in drought-affected contexts, and supporting fishers in Gaza, among others.
Rein Paulsen, Director of FAO’s Office of Emergencies and Resilience, expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the contribution, saying it will help agriculture-dependent families meet their immediate needs, reduce vulnerability to shocks, and build resilient agrifood systems.
