GhMediaHubThe Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, has urged institutions that owe the power company to pay their debts as the company is in the final week of collecting debts.
Mahama warned that the ECG will not be lenient with debtors who fail to pay and urged them to continue paying their bills, even if they do not receive monthly bills.
Failure to pay will result in disconnection of electricity supply. The ECG has so far retrieved 2.5 billion cedis out of the 5.7 billion cedis debt owed by customers since it began its debt recovery exercise on Monday, March 20.
The exercise aims to retrieve debts owed to the company and check for illegal connections.
Mahama revealed that the next phase of the exercise will focus solely on illegal connections and urged those engaged in illegal connections to do the needful before they are caught.
