GHMediaHubThere appears to be a discrepancy regarding the payment made by dancehall artist Stonebwoy to the National Sports Authority (NSA) for the use of the Accra Sports Stadium for the Bhim Concert held in December 2023.
While sources indicate that the NSA typically charges around GH¢150,000 for hosting major musical concerts at the Accra Sports Stadium, the NSA’s accounts report a payment of GH¢70,000. This discrepancy was highlighted by NSA boss Professor Peter Twumasi during a session of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 5, 2024.
In response to this discrepancy, Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Abiola, stated in an interview on Accra-based Hitz FM that the amount cited by the NSA was incorrect. He emphasized that he was delegated by Stonebwoy to handle the negotiations and payment for the stadium rental. While he confirmed that Stonebwoy paid more than GH¢70,000 for the stadium, he refrained from disclosing the exact amount, citing contractual matters.
Chief Abiola expressed his willingness to provide further details on the matter and stated that he is prepared to attend the Committee to clarify any misunderstandings.
As the issue unfolds, Chief Abiola’s readiness to address the Committee reflects a commitment to transparency and accountability in resolving the discrepancy over the payment for the Accra Sports Stadium rental.
