GHMediaHubBelgian club KRC Genk is reportedly close to finalizing a transfer deal with Los Angeles Galaxy for Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil.
Belgium Football Journalist Bob Faesen first revealed the news of the impending agreement between the two clubs regarding the transfer of the speedy winger.
According to reports, Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy has agreed to a four-year deal valued at eight million euros to secure Paintsil’s services from the Belgian club.
If the deal goes through, the 26-year-old Ghanaian winger will make a move to the United States of America, likely doubling his current wage.
As part of the agreement, Paintsil is expected to be designated as a “Designated Player,” allowing him to be exempt from the league’s salary cap, joining a select group of players with this status.
Despite Ghana’s disappointing early exit from the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, Paintsil delivered an impressive performance in the tournament.
In the current season, Paintsil has showcased his talent with six goals and four assists in 23 league games. Last season, he recorded 14 goals and 14 assists in 30 league appearances during the 2022-2023 season.
