GHMediaHubMember of Parliament for Bodi, Sampson Ahi, has revealed plans to petition President Akufo-Addo regarding the absence of a minister from the Western North Region following the recent ministerial reshuffle.
Ahi has voiced concerns over what he perceives as a breach of the constitutional requirement for regional balance within the president’s cabinet, particularly in light of the reshuffle announcement on February 14.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Ahi emphasized the importance of addressing this oversight and expressed optimism that the president would take corrective action upon receiving the petition.
Acknowledging the potential oversight, Ahi stated, “I think it was an oversight, and so we will write officially to the president to draw his attention to this huge omission on his part so that we do the right thing.”
He further emphasized the need for fairness and inclusivity in cabinet representation, particularly for regions like Western North, which contribute significantly to the nation’s economic prosperity.
Ahi concluded by stating, “We are just asking him to be fair to the people of the Western North region by making sure that we have representation in the cabinet and some deputy ministers so that we can support him in managing the country.”
