GHMediaHubIn a tightly contested match, Erling Haaland’s clinical finish propelled Manchester City to a 1-0 victory over Brentford, edging Pep Guardiola’s side within one point of Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Seeking redemption from a previous draw with Chelsea, Manchester City displayed early dominance, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden threatening Brentford’s defense.
Despite Brentford’s counterattacks, it was City who had the better chances, notably thwarted by former player Ben Mee’s goal-line clearance against Oscar Bobb.
Brentford, undeterred, continued to pose threats on the break, with Frank Onyeka testing Ederson with a header.
Guardiola turned to his bench for inspiration, bringing on Jérémy Doku, but it was Haaland who made the breakthrough, capitalizing on Kristoffer Ajer’s slip to score the decisive goal.
Although Haaland found the net again, it was disallowed for offside, but City held on to secure all three points.
The win brings City within touching distance of Liverpool at the top of the table, while Brentford’s relegation concerns deepen, sitting just five points above the drop zone.
