GHMediaHubTottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, emphasized that while his team remains a work in progress, there are promising signs indicating they are moving in the right direction. Despite the challenging conditions, Spurs delivered a resilient and composed performance in their 1-1 draw against West Ham on Tuesday.
Postecoglou praised his players for their willingness to learn and adapt, highlighting their maturity on the pitch, particularly against a formidable opponent. He noted improvements in their overall play and organization compared to their previous away game against Fulham, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Against West Ham, Tottenham demonstrated structural maturity, with midfielder Yves Bissouma standing out and the defensive line effectively handling the threats posed by West Ham’s attacking players.
While the ultimate goal is to secure a place in the top four for Champions League qualification, Postecoglou emphasized the importance of focusing on the team’s development rather than solely on their league position. Despite being two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, Tottenham’s manager believes there are positive indicators of progress.
Although Tottenham conceded from a set piece, Postecoglou commended their overall defensive performance, highlighting their resilience against West Ham’s physicality and aerial threats. He also noted areas for improvement, particularly in decision-making and execution in the final third.
Looking ahead, Tottenham faces tough challenges against title contenders Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool. However, Postecoglou remains optimistic, knowing that Aston Villa, their direct competitor for the fourth spot, also faces challenging fixtures against the top teams. As the season reaches its climax, the race for the coveted fourth spot promises to be tightly contested.
