GHMediaHubManchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his optimism about the club’s future following the impressive performances of young talents Willy Kambwala and Kobbie Mainoo in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
Despite falling behind to an early goal from Luis Diaz, United rallied back with Bruno Fernandes and Mainoo finding the net to take the lead before Mohamed Salah’s late penalty leveled the score.
With regular defenders Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans sidelined due to injury, 19-year-old Kambwala stepped up with a solid display in his second league start of the season.
“We were convinced (Kambwala) could do the job and he has done brilliant,” Ten Hag remarked, acknowledging the young defender’s contribution.
Ten Hag also praised the performance of 18-year-old Mainoo, highlighting their potential for the future of Manchester United.
“I am very pleased, very happy, and it is another signal and message of the future of Manchester United,” he said, emphasizing the squad’s high potential.
While currently sixth in the Premier League and facing a challenge to secure a Champions League spot for next season, Ten Hag remained upbeat, focusing on the positives and upcoming opportunities.
Despite the league position, United still have the FA Cup semi-finals to look forward to, with a fixture against Coventry City on April 21st. Ten Hag emphasized the importance of continuing to fight for every point and remaining competitive in every match.
Looking ahead, United will aim to build on the positives from their recent performances and continue their pursuit of success both domestically and in cup competitions.
