GHMediaHubA Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday remanded social media influencer and critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, in police custody. The social media critic faced arraignment by the Nigeria Police Force on five counts of cyberstalking.
During the hearing, Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, but the prosecution requested more time to respond. Consequently, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court adjourned the bail hearing to May 29.
The police prosecution initially sought to have Otse remanded in prison custody, but his lawyers argued for him to be kept in police custody instead. The court granted this request, and Otse was subsequently taken to the National Cybercrime Centre.
This is not the first time Otse has faced legal issues related to cyberbullying. In March 2024, he was remanded for the same offense. Known for his controversial takes and criticism, the 27-year-old social media personality has been a prominent figure in contentious discussions since January this year.
