GHMediaHubFans of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club showed hostility to the team’s entourage that honoured the Phobia club’s final game of the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season at Bechem.
Supporters of the club booed and hurled insults at the playing body of Hearts of Oak as they boarded the bus after recording a 3-2 win over Bechem United to avoid getting relegated to the Division One.
Hearts needed to beat Bechem to guarantee its safety in the league and did so by making a successful comeback from trailing 2-1 in the 59th minute to bag goals in the 70th and 74th minutes respectively through Kelvin Asibey and Yaw Baafi.
However, the win wasn’t enough to mask the poor performance Hearts had put up for much of the season that had it finish in a worse position in this campaign than it did in the previous campaign.
In the 2022-2023 season, Hearts finished in 12th place but the just ended campaign had the Phobians’ finish in 14th place with 11 wins, 12 draws and 11 losses in 34 games.
Hearts also lost twice to bitter rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko and missed out on making a deep run in the MTN FA Cup as well. Scroll down to watch video of Hearts fans booing team.
