Arsenal finalize the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya.

Arsenal have officially signed Spanish goalkeeper David Raya on a permanent long-term contract from Brentford. Raya, who is 28 years old, has taken over from England international Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper. He has made 41 appearances in all competitions since joining Arsenal on a season-long loan from Brentford.

Raya initially moved to Brentford in 2019 after playing for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship. While Arsenal did not disclose the financial specifics of the transfer, reports suggest the deal is worth around £27 million ($34.45 million).

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his satisfaction with Raya’s permanent addition to the squad. In a statement, Arteta said, “David showed us last season what an important player he is for us, so we are delighted he is now officially our player. He is a big presence in our dressing room and we are really pleased to keep working with him.”

Arteta also emphasized the strong connections within the goalkeeping unit, stating, “We know he will take the strong foundations he put in place last season and build on them in the years to come, and that he will enjoy more success with us. We have a very talented group of goalkeepers and I love to see connections like the one I see in our goalkeeping unit.”
