GhMediaHubHiplife star Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru NKZ, has been reinstated in the University of Ghana’s SRC presidential race following a successful appeal. He had initially been disqualified due to his non-residential status, which violated Article 30 of the SRC Constitution, requiring candidates to be residents on campus.
Guru, along with his running mate Jeffery Adu Yeboah, filed a petition challenging the decision made by the University of Ghana’s SRC Electoral Commission. The petition led to a review of the ruling by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs and the Electoral Commission, with Guru also submitting an interim injunction to halt the election process pending the appeal.
On September 15, 2024, the Appeals Board delivered a unanimous decision (7-0) to overturn the disqualification, instructing that Guru and his running mate be reinstated on the list of presidential candidates.
Balloting for all vetted candidates is set for Monday, September 16.
