After engaging in a lyrical battle in 2019, Strongman and Medikal have had their records among the top Hip-hop songs released in the year under review as they have earned nominations at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Interestingly, the songs ‘Ups and Downs’ and ‘Drip’ were a deviation from the banter as both artistes after sustaining the beef swerved music enthusiast. Followers of these two artistes expected the much-publicized songs fan to flame the lyrical battle only to listen and realize they were mere commercial songs.
Competing in the Hip-hop Song of the Year category are ‘Don’t Be Late’ by Kofi Mole, ‘Dondo remix’ by Kwaw Kese ft Mr. Eazi, Skonti, Sarkodie and Medikal, La Familia by Joey B ft Kwesi Arthur and Sarkodie, ‘Bleeding’ by Sarkodie, ‘Mind Your Business’ by Eno Barony.
Also grabbing a nomination is ‘Thoughts of King Arthur 5’ by Kwesi Arthur.
Medikal and Strongman again had nominations in the Best Rapper of the Year category for their performances on ‘Drip’ and ‘Ups and Downs’.
Strongman however missed out on Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year category as Medikal, Kwesi Arthur, Kofi Mole, Sarkodie, Quamina MP, Joey B, and DopeNation were listed as nominees.
