GhMediaHubThe National Communication Officer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi, has pleaded with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to grant actress Akuapem Poloo pardon on her 90-day jail sentence.
In his view, the sentence given to Akuapem Poloo is “very harsh and high-handed”.
An Accra Circuit Court sentenced the social media sensation for the publication of a nude picture with her son.
She posted the picture on Instagram in June last year on the occasion of the boy’s seventh birthday.
Poloo appeared in court on Wednesday, 14 April 2021.
She pleaded guilty to all three charges levelled against her.
The ‘Sexy Poloo’ singer was slapped with “publication of obscene materials, engaging in domestic violence, conduct that in any way undermines another person’s privacy or integrity and engaging in domestic violence namely conduct that in any way detracts or is likely to detract from another person’s dignity and worth as a human being”.
However, Mr Gyamfi said: “Given the fact that she is a first offender, pleaded guilty and showed remorse, non-custodial sentence would have been appropriate”.
“Sad! I pray @NAkufoAddo remits her sentence or pardons her. #FreeAkuapemPoloo”, he further stated in a Facebook post on Friday, 16 April 2021.
