GhMediaHubThe new Sompahene of Manso Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region has expressed his dissatisfaction with the involvement of children in illegal mining activities within the catchment area.
Nana Oppong-Mensah Aborampah I is concerned that the trend could have a negative impact on the sustainable development of the district, particularly with the high number of school dropouts resulting from these activities.
He plans to engage with stakeholders to find solutions to this challenge. Despite the mineral resource benefit from the district, there are infrastructure deficits, and the poor road conditions pose a danger to traders and commuters who are often victims of armed attacks.
Nana Oppong-Mensah has appealed to the government to fix the roads, and he is also calling for the establishment of training colleges for teachers and nurses in the Amansie West and South districts.
He, however, commends the government for the ongoing construction of a district hospital and divisional police headquarters.
