The Archbishop’s comment can trigger security and peace instability – Security analyst

A security analyst, Mr. Godson Bill Ocloo, has raised concerns that Archbishop Charles Agyin-Asare’s recent comment tagging Nogokpo as the “demonic headquarters” could potentially trigger security and peace instability in Ghana.

Mr. Ocloo, the Executive Director of Africa Centre for Emergency Management and Human Security, described the comments as unfortunate and called for an unqualified apology to the residents of Nogokpo and the people of the Volta region.

According to Mr. Ocloo, the Archbishop’s statement could have negative social, economic, and stigmatizing effects on the people of Nogokpo and the Volta region as a whole. He argued that Archbishop Agyin-Asare’s remarks violated Article 21(1)C of the 1992 constitution and urged him to apologize through the same medium he used to make the comment.

Mr. Ocloo emphasized that Nogokpo is a peaceful town where believers of various backgrounds reside, and he mentioned that many pastors, politicians, and others visit the area for rituals due to its peaceful nature.

He called on the National Peace Council, Christian Council, and Charismatic Council to intervene and request an apology from Archbishop Agyin-Asare.

In response to the criticism, Archbishop Agyin-Asare expressed some form of regret, stating that his comment had been taken out of context.
