GhMediaHubThe National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Stephen Ayesu Ntim, has stated that the party under his leadership will not support LGBTQI activities.
Speaking to a gathering of NPP supporters, he emphasized that the NPP will not endorse LGBTQI rights. These remarks come at a time when the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has been accused of contempt in relation to an anti-gay bill.
A researcher, Dr. Amanda Odoi, filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court, claiming that the Speaker had shown contempt and disregard for court processes.
The Parliament recently adopted a motion on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill. During the debate on the bill, Minister of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, Dan Botwe, referred to LGBTQI activities as “madness” and a Satanic force that should not be allowed to exist in the country.
He emphasized the need for continued vigilance even after the bill’s passage.
