Man City agrees on a deal for Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol.

Manchester City has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol.

This important transfer for the Premier League team would cost City 90 million euros, or £77 million, for the 21-year-old center-back.

However, this agreement does not include any further add-ons, retaining the British record for a defender at £80 million, which was achieved in 2019 when Manchester United acquired Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

Since joining Leipzig from Dynamo Zagreb in 2021, Gvardiol has made an amazing 87 appearances, showcasing his talent. The football world has taken notice of the outstanding defender’s versatility, ability to play left-back, and good performances.

The transaction eventually came together after initial difficulties in negotiations last week as Leipzig insisted on a minimum price of €100 million (£86 million).

After a medical test in England later this week, Gvardiol’s transfer is anticipated to be completed.

Given the variety of choices presently available, including Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, and Nathan Ake, Gvardiol’s arrival may have an impact on Aymeric Laporte’s future at the Etihad Stadium. He is expected to strengthen the left side of Manchester City’s central defense.
