GhMediaHubRaymond Ndong Sima has been named as the new interim prime minister of Gabon by the country’s military authorities.
Despite having previously served as the nation’s prime minister from 2012 to 2014, the 68-year-old economist was a steadfast foe of ousted President Ali Bongo.
Despite his desire to run for president this year, he chose to support Albert Ondo Ossa, the leading opponent.
The junta announced earlier that it had released Mr. Bongo from house detention, where he had been since they took control last week.
Gen. Brice Oligui Nguema, the Republican Guard’s commander and the current president and head of state, was the coup’s mastermind.
The daily management of the nation is typically within the prime minister’s control.
