GHMediaHubThe Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has stated that there is no need for a load-shedding timetable despite recent power interruptions.
According to ECG’s External Communications Manager, Laila Abubakar, the current challenges in power supply do not warrant the implementation of a formal load-shedding schedule.
Abubakar emphasized that various factors could contribute to the recent power cuts, and it does not signify a return of the infamous ‘dumsor’ phenomenon.
She clarified, “When your power goes off, it is not always due to load shedding. There are multiple issues, some of which fall within ECG’s purview. We are actively addressing the issues within our control.”
Regarding the term ‘dumsor,’ Abubakar noted, “The term ‘dumsor’ is often associated with load shedding. However, the current situation does not require a formal timetable. When people inquire about ‘dumsor,’ I ask them to specify what they mean by it. Unfortunately, there won’t be a set timetable for it.”
