Spotify Brings Afro Nation Portugal 2026 Performances to Global Audiences

Spotify has released the second wave of exclusive live performances from Afro Nation Portugal 2026, giving music fans around the world access to some of the festival’s most memorable moments.

Recorded during the annual festival in Portimão, Portugal, the latest collection features performances from four of Afrobeats’ biggest stars — Wizkid, Tyla, Olamide and Young Jonn.

Among the performances currently available to stream exclusively on Spotify are Wizkid’s global hit Essence, Olamide’s fan favourite Wo, and Young Jonn’s energetic performance of Sharpally.

As the exclusive streaming partner of Afro Nation Portugal 2026, Spotify says the initiative is designed to extend the festival experience beyond the live audience, allowing fans worldwide to relive some of the event’s biggest performances through premium video content. The exclusive recordings are available via Spotify’s dedicated Afro Nation hub, which also features artist highlights, curated playlists and additional festival content.

The release comes as Afrobeats continues its remarkable global expansion. Spotify data shows that leading African artists are attracting audiences far beyond the continent, with Tyla enjoying strong listenership across markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil and the Philippines. Wizkid continues to command significant audiences in countries such as Mexico, France and Nigeria, while Olamide and Young Jonn are also expanding their international reach, with growing fan bases across Europe, Africa and parts of Asia.

Speaking about the partnership, Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify’s Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the platform aims to preserve the cultural significance of Afro Nation while making the performances accessible to audiences worldwide.

We aren’t just hosting videos; we’re immortalizing the moments that define the weekend, ensuring fans can relive the energy and connect with these iconic stories long after the lights go down.”

The collaboration forms part of Spotify’s broader investment in African music and storytelling. In recent years, the streaming platform has launched initiatives including Afrobeats: Journey of a Billion Streams, which chronicles the genre’s rapid rise through streaming milestones and cultural impact, as well as Afrobeats: Culture in Motion, a multimedia project exploring the evolution of the genre through documentary filmmaking, digital experiences and fashion showcases.
