The Efiewura star reportedly fell ill during a live radio discussion at Owass Radio in Tarkwa before being rushed to a hospital, according to reports by MyJoyOnline and Citi Newsroom.
Ghana’s entertainment industry has been hit by sad news following reports of the death of veteran actor, comedian and broadcaster Seth Kwame Dzokoto, popularly known as Kwame Dzokoto, on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
According to reports, Dzokoto died after falling ill during a live panel discussion at Owass Radio in Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The reports indicate that he was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been fully detailed, and the medical cause of death has not been disclosed.
News of his passing has prompted renewed attention to the career of a familiar face in Ghanaian entertainment, whose work spanned television, comedy and radio broadcasting.
Dzokoto rose to prominence through his role as Judge Koboo in the popular Ghanaian television series Efiewura, where his comic delivery and distinctive screen presence made him a recognisable figure among television audiences.
He also hosted Edziban on TV3, a food and lifestyle programme that explored Ghanaian cuisine, local eateries and the people behind the country’s food culture.
His work across comedy, acting and presenting established him as a versatile entertainer who connected with audiences through different forms of media.
Beyond television, Dzokoto also worked in radio broadcasting, including stints at Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi, according to published reports.
Away from entertainment, Dzokoto ventured into politics under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He contested the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat in the 2016 general elections but lost to the New Patriotic Party’s George Mireku Duker.
Although he did not secure the parliamentary seat, his participation in the election marked another chapter in a career that extended beyond the entertainment industry.
The reported death comes weeks after Dzokoto publicly dismissed rumours suggesting that he was seriously ill or had died.
In September 2026, the actor addressed the speculation in an interview, reassuring the public that he was alive and doing well. He also urged bloggers and media practitioners to verify information before publishing claims about people’s health.
His comments highlighted the emotional impact that false reports can have on public figures and their families.
The earlier rumours and his subsequent response make the latest reports particularly distressing for fans who had recently heard from him directly.
Dzokoto’s career encompassed several areas of Ghanaian public life, from television comedy and food programming to radio and politics.
For many viewers, his portrayal of Judge Koboo in Efiewura remains among his most memorable contributions. Through Edziban, he also helped bring Ghanaian food culture and local food businesses to television audiences.
As news of his reported passing spreads, further details about the circumstances of his death and funeral arrangements are awaited.
