GHMediaHubGhana won’t compete in the 2024 Olympic Games Men’s 4×100 Metre Men’s Relay Final after getting disqualified despite completing its race in the semifinals.
Team Ghana finished seventh after the race but was eventually disqualified for lane infraction in the second of two heats in the event. Fellow African nation, Liberia, finished seventh with a time of 38.97 seconds.
This led to Ghana dropping to the bottom of the rankings in the heat and missing out on competing in the finals of one of the most heralded events in the Olympics.
Team Ghana was made up of Benjamain Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and Joseph Paul Amoah. Saminu replaced Isaac Botsio for the race.
China won the heat with a time of 38.24 seconds with France and Canada finishing second and third respectively in a time of 38.34 seconds and 38.39 seconds respectively.
The top three finishers qualify automatically to the finals; In Heat One, the United States of America, France and Great Britain finished in the top three spots accordingly.
Ghana’s time at the Olympics has come to an end with the unsuccessful attempt by the relay team to make the finals.
