Covid-19: Parliament to relocate temporarily to Conference centre

The Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, has said the House is likely to relocate to the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) in the coming days.

The leadership of the House is currently engaging the relevant authorities for the temporal relocation to enable lawmakers have enough space to practice the Social distancing measures.

The Speaker, on Monday said:“As the Majority Leader suggested the other day, we are in the process of making all relevant arrangements if we can relocate temporarily to the conference centre…and carry on. Maybe this would make people realise that Parliament is in need of a more spacious place.”

Already the legislature has step up measures and efforts to check the spread of the covid-19 virus in parliament.

Ghana’s confirmed cases of the coronavirus has jumped to 24 with one death.

There has been the closure of the country’s borders, including  ports- land sea and air- effective midnight on Sunday as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the country will observe a national Day of fasting and prayers on Wednesday, March, 25, as part of the nation’s spiritual warfare against covid-19.
