Highlife Musician, Ronald Kweku Dei Appiah, popularly known as Bisa Kdei has advised artistes to focus on making great songs rather than winning awards.
In an interview with Happy FM’s DJ Advicer on the ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ show, he recounted how disappointed he was for a brief moment when the 2016 VGMA Artiste of the Year award went to EL instead of him.
“We all thought the same [winning the award]. Sometimes things happen and we can’t change it. If you know something won’t go well for you at the initial stages, you become surprised.”
“After that I learnt that as an artiste you don’t focus on awards. You need to focus on what you are doing in music”, he said.
It can be recalled that Bisa Kdei had five nominations at the VGMA music awards which included Artiste of the Year. However, EL beat him to win the award.
Bisa Kdei is out with a new single dubbed ‘Ofie Nipa’ which features songstress, Sista Afia.
