Government’s handling of COVID-19 chaotic – Mahama

Ex-President John Mahama has described the Akufo Addo led government’s handling of COVID-19 cases as chaotic.

He said the high number of the country’s cases is a reflection of how the government has tackled the pandemic.

Addressing Ghanaians in a Facebook Live session, Mr Mahama who’s the opposition NDC’s Flagbearer for the upcoming December 2020 general elections stated that the government has been very inefficient.

“Disturbing reports are being received of health workers getting exposed, testing positive and forced to go into self-isolation, quarantine or treatment. This is happening at a time that isolation and treatment centres are being reported to be full and both health workers and other positive cases are being compelled to self-isolate at home. This is a sad reflection of the Akufo Addo’s chaotic handling of the COVID situation. It is a sad testament of the bundling inefficiency that has characterized the handling of this pandemic from the very beginning.”

Ghana has recorded 339 new cases increasing the country’s tally to 12,929, according to the Ghana Health Service.

Out of that number, four persons infected with Covid-19 are in critical condition and are on ventilators while 14 others are critically ill.

Director of Public Health at the GHS, Dr Badu Sarkodie at a press briefing on Thursday stated that this represents a positivity rate of 4.95 as 261,319 tests have been conducted.

4,468 people infected the virus have so far recovered while 66 have died.

The active cases are 8,395.
