Ignore ‘fake and false’ electoral victory prophecies – Rev. Frimpong-Manso

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Rev Professor Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso has cautioned men of God, particularly prophets to desist from the practice of predicting winners in this year’s presidential polls.

According to him, such prophecies are wrong, fake and false.

“These things are wrong and fake and false,” he indicated, adding “And we should not hang our hopes on them.”

Rev. Frimpong-Manso gave the admonishment when the Leader and Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama formally presented his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman to the leadership of the Christian Council of Ghana on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at the Headquarters of the Assemblies of God Church in Accra.

According to the man of God, “God has given the power to choose the leader through elections, through campaigns, and through the ballot box” and that “If it will be through prophecies, there will be no need for elections and campaigns.”

He has, therefore cautioned politicians and voters to ignore such prophets and their prophecies, saying “So politicians, these people can exploit you. They can create confusion and they will make things wrong.”

Rev. Frimpong-Manso also charged politicians and political parties to work hard in order to enable them win their elections.

Prophets

Some men of God, including Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, Rev. Owusu Bempah, Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Prophet Nigel Gaisie have given prophecies about winners this year’s presidential elections in December.

In his brief address, former President Mahama said the purpose of “our coming is, to formally present to you my Running Mate for the 2020 elections, seek your blessings and prayer as we head into the elections of December 2020.”

He added “As you are no doubt aware, over 71% of our 30 plus million population is Christian and this for me underscores the huge responsibility you have as leaders in terms of moulding morally sound and ethically driven citizens, as well as providing spiritual guidance, teachings and prayers.”
