Boxing: Anthony Joshua Taken To Hospital After Receiving beatings From Oleksandr Usyk In Heavyweight Bout

Top Boxer of Nigerian origin, Anthony Joshua experienced his second defeat in his professional career after losing graciously to Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.

Last Saturday night, September 25 in London, UK, Oleksandr Usyk left the face of Anthony Joshua deformed and bruised in a heated heavyweight bout which got him hospitalized.

Although Anthony Joshua was predicted to be the favourite for the night, he lost his IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight titles to the undefeated Ukrainian boxer.

The three judges scored the bout 117-112, 116-112, 115-113 all in the favour of Usyk.

Reports reaching us reveals that Antony Joshua was immediately sent to the hospital for some kind of treatment.

According to his promoter, Oleksandr Usyk might have badly broken Joshua’s eye socket out of the beatings he gave out.

When he lost in New York everyone started analysing the dressing room, the ring walk,’ Hearn said.

‘He was fine, he was maybe a little too relaxed on the ring walk, he was shaking everyone’s hand, he was hugging a few people that is just AJ but I feel it was the wrong type of performance.

‘Sometimes you have to use your attributes.

‘[Joshua] never really got going, he will go to hospital now, I don’t know if he has broken his eye socket, it doesn’t look great.’

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live after the fight.
