Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan football star who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and the national team, has gained worldwide attention due to the revelation that he does not own anything despite earning millions of euros.
This came to light during his ongoing divorce proceedings with his wife, Hiba Abouk, who had requested half of his property and wealth.
During the proceedings, Abouk discovered that the 24-year-old footballer had registered all his assets and funds under his mother’s name.
This included his houses, cars, clothes, jewelry, and millions of euros in salary, which were deposited into accounts bearing his mother’s name. It was reported that 80% of all his possessions were registered under his mother’s name.
The couple, who began dating in 2018 and married in 2020, have two children together. Abouk filed for divorce in March 2023, citing irreconcilable differences in their marriage, which had been deteriorating for months prior to the investigation against Hakimi in Paris for an alleged rape.
Hakimi’s decision to not have his wealth registered under his name has generated global headlines, with some praising him for being wise and protecting his assets, while others have criticized him and his mother.
