I have no interest in becoming Black Stars’ coach – Michael Essien

Michael Essien, a former Ghanaian footballer, has announced that he has no interest in becoming the head coach of the Black Stars, despite holding both the UEFA A and UEFA Elite Youth A licenses and working as an assistant coach at FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

He believes he is not currently prepared to manage Ghana’s national team and has no plans to do so in the near future.

A Nigerian journalist named Lolade Adewuyi revealed Essien’s position on the matter after meeting him in Denmark while covering a UEFA Champions League game.

Essien had immediately earned his coaching badges after retiring from professional football and began working as an assistant coach for Nordsjaelland.

Despite never having considered becoming a coach, he mentioned in a 2021 interview that he had a lot to teach younger players.
