GhMediaHubTakyi Mensah, the Central Regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed confidence in the party’s chances of winning the upcoming Assin-North by-election. During an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen Show, Mensah stated that the constituents would not repeat the mistake of re-electing James Gyakye Quayson, considering his ongoing court issues.
Mensah firmly asserted that the NPP would select a capable parliamentary candidate by the end of the following day, and that candidate would emerge victorious on June 27, 2023.
He highlighted the sentiments of the people of Kumawu, emphasizing that they would not vote for Gyakye Quayson due to the challenges he currently faces. Mensah assured that all necessary arrangements had been made for the party’s primaries scheduled for June 7, 2023.
Mensah emphasized the eligibility of the NPP’s two aspirants, Charles Opoku and Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei, stating that they meet all legal requirements. He also mentioned that the party has addressed and resolved the issues that contributed to their defeat in the 2020 elections.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially set the by-election date for June 27, 2023.
