Hearts of Oak did not contact Annor Walker, says Odotei

Board member for Hearts of Oak Vincent Sowah Odotei claims that Great Olympics coach Annor Walker asked him about joining the organization, but he has denied approaching Walker.

His remark is in response to Annor Walker’s comments regarding Hearts of Oak’s ‘unethical’ search for a coach to succeed Slavko Matic, who was hired to succeed Samuel Boadu but failed to finish the season.

According to the coach, the club tried to sign their preferred players before hiring a coach for the team, which he thinks is improper. He added that Odotei had asked for his CV and promised feedback but never did.

His nameIn spite of suspicions linking the veteran to Hearts of Oak after leaving Samartex, Great Olympics confirmed the veteran as their new coach as a consequence.

But according to Odotei, Hearts of Oak never showed interest in hiring the coach and instead agreed to his desire to lead the Phobians out of respect.

According to Odotei Sowah, “When he [Annor Walker] called me this season to express his desire to visit Hearts of Oak, I only responded out of respect for his age.”

What makes Annor Walker’s actions logical? He called me and said he wanted to work with Hearts of Oak, so I requested him to submit his resume. He persisted in bothering me every day, though. We never hired him, and we never talked about a contract. He can challenge me to publicize the chat records because I have them all.

He was fortunate that we even responded to his plea this season, given his actions and how he made Hearts of Oak and others advocating for him look bad.

He says we want to recruit players before hiring a coach. Does he know what we’re doing? Does he know the players we are trying to recruit, their recommenders, or the person overseeing the technical assessment of the players?

Hearts of Oak is attempting to reorganize its team for the upcoming season after a dismal campaign.
