GHMediaHubMikel Arteta has emphatically denied any intention to depart from his role as manager of the team, dismissing recent rumors as “totally fake news.” Addressing the media during his pre-Nottingham Forest press conference on Monday, Arteta expressed frustration with the unfounded speculation circulating in the media.
He stated, “That’s totally fake news. What you read yesterday, I don’t know where it’s coming from. It’s totally untrue and I’m really upset about it. I don’t know where it’s coming from, it’s got no sources, it’s got nothing and I think we have to be very cautious when we talk about personal things, to put it in the way that it was put yesterday.”
Asserting his commitment to the club, Arteta emphasized his satisfaction with his current position and his belief in the direction of the team. He reaffirmed his dedication to the journey he’s embarked on with the football club, the players, staff, and supporters.
Regarding his contract situation, Arteta remained composed and indicated a willingness to address it at the appropriate time. He expressed confidence in his relationship with the board, Edu, and the ownership, emphasizing a preference for handling such matters in a natural and timely manner.
He explained, “I’ve got a strong relationship with the board, with Edu, the team, with ownership. Things come in a natural way and we’ve always done it that way and it’s been done really well. When the time is right we’ll have those discussions and I’ll think about the best way to do that.”
