GHMediaHubGhanaian actress Akofa Edjeani recently opened up about a troubling experience she faced with a director in the movie industry, shedding light on the challenges women encounter in the male-dominated field. Speaking on Joy FM, Edjeani recounted an incident where she had to lower her rates for two consecutive films at the request of the producer.
However, she faced a disturbing situation when the director of the project invited her to his room under the guise of watching a movie. Refusing the invitation, Edjeani later discovered the director’s ulterior motives, which she found unacceptable.
Despite her refusal to comply with the director’s advances, Edjeani was subsequently removed from the cast of the next film. When she inquired about the decision, she learned that the director was responsible for the casting and had excluded her from the project.
Reflecting on the incident, Edjeani expressed pride in her decision not to compromise her dignity for a role, emphasizing the importance of sticking to one’s principles. She credited her talent for her success and affirmed that succumbing to such pressures would undermine one’s integrity and self-worth.
