GHMediaHubGhana’s Black Queens are gearing up to face Zambia’s Copper Queens in the second leg of the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifiers’ third round at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola this Wednesday.
Despite their defeat in the first leg, where Rachael Kundananji, the most expensive player in women’s football, scored a remarkable goal, Coach Nora Häuptle remains hopeful about their chances and believes qualification is still within reach.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t deliver or succeed against Zambia in the first leg, but we have the second leg against Zambia,” Coach Häuptle stated optimistically.
“I think when we score one goal, it will ignite the atmosphere down there, and then we will be back in April for the fourth round against Morocco. I hope the stadium [Accra Sports Stadium] here is buzzing, and we can get a sold-out crowd.”
The Black Queens are determined to advance to the final round of the qualifiers despite their 1-0 loss to the Copper Queens at the Accra Sports Stadium. They understand that they need a convincing victory to secure a spot in the next round of qualifiers.
The Black Queens have already arrived in Ndola for the return fixture against Zambia. They departed from Accra on Friday evening via Kenya Airways and reached the Copper Provincial capital around noon on Saturday. Upon arrival at the Simon Nwansa Kapwepwe airport, they were warmly received by staff from the Ghana mission in Zambia.
