GHMediaHubNollywood legend Yul Edochie has explained his absence from the funeral of his late colleague, actor Jnr Pope, who tragically passed away along with four others on April 10 when their boat capsized in the Anam River while returning from a movie shoot. The burial service for Jnr Pope was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Ukehe, Enugu State, on May 17, 2024.
Despite being a close friend of the deceased, Yul Edochie did not attend the funeral, which was well-attended by many Nigerian actors and celebrities who came to pay their last respects. Addressing his absence, Yul Edochie revealed that he had a secret conflict with his late colleague.
In his statement, Edochie shared that he and Jnr Pope used to be very good friends until a disagreement created a rift between them. “I didn’t want to say anything until his burial. I know many asked why I wasn’t there. Why I haven’t said anything about it since? I took him like a brother and good friend. I was there for him when he needed me,” Edochie explained.
“But he stabbed me in the back, repeatedly,” he added, noting that he plans to disclose the full details of their conflict soon so that others can learn from their experience.
Edochie shared his thoughts and reasons on social media, further detailing his sentiments surrounding the situation.
