I’m sorry – Lilwin to Martha Ankomah after reaching out of court settlement on defamation suit

Multifaceted Ghanaian celebrity Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lilwin, has finally apologized to actress Martha Ankomah for denigrating her brand. This follows an incident where Lilwin, in a viral video, used unprintable words to question Martha Ankomah’s prominence in the movie industry, leading the actress to sue him for defamation.

Earlier this week, Martha Ankomah’s lawyer announced in court that Lilwin had reached out for an out-of-court settlement. During the court session on July 31, the actress’s lawyer, Nii Apatu Plange, informed the court of the new developments and requested to approach the bench. The presiding judge, Justice Forson Agyapong Baah, acknowledged that both parties had agreed to settle the matter.

In a viral post, Lilwin apologized to Martha Ankomah, stating his intentions were not to insult her. He expressed remorse and emphasized that Martha is not only a colleague but also a sister. “I apologize for what I did. Martha Ankomah is not only a sister, but she is a colleague too. I accept my fault and render an unqualified apology to her. I want to use this medium and call on all of you present in the studio, Fada Dickson, Despite among others, to apologize to her for me,” Lilwin stated.

The case has been adjourned to August 15, 2024, during the legal vacation, to finalize the settlement and have the agreed terms adopted by the court as a consent judgment.
