Baba Sadiq, Dancegod Lloyd, and other notable figures inspire emerging creatives during the Fireside Chat at the Tidal Rave Festival.

The Tidal Rave Festival, in collaboration with Influencer Africa, hosted an exclusive Fireside Chat titled “Becoming A Star” last Saturday. This event brought together talented artists, influencers, DJs, and music producers who are at the forefront of shaping the creative industry. The chat provided an invaluable platform for rising creatives to gain firsthand insights into the inner workings of the creative industry, including the stories behind hit songs, branding strategies, and effective marketing techniques.

Sponsored by Johnnie Walker and supported by Influencer Africa’s Creatorthon, the Fireside Chat served as the opening event for the Tidal Rave Festival, which has long been a hub for fostering a community of creatives.

The event featured several notable speakers, including award-winning MC Kojo Manuel, who shared his journey of leaving a corporate job to pursue a successful career in stagecraft. His experience highlighted the importance of following one’s passion and the rewards that come with dedication.

Dancegod Lloyd also shared a personal story about nearly giving up on his dreams due to initial setbacks but ultimately finding a unique opportunity that set him on his current successful path.

Khadijat El-Alawa, Co-Founder of the Continent Live, advised aspiring music stars to approach their careers like startups, with a clear business plan and strong objectives. DJ Slim emphasized the importance of building and maintaining relationships with key industry figures, particularly in the context of the Kumerica movement.

The second session, featuring Emmanuel Sedo, Nana Yaa Amoah-Owusu, Joseph Adjei, and Terra Clottey, focused on personal branding and the importance of community building among creatives.

In the third session, Baba Saddiq, founder of 3Music, alongside Yaw Twumasi, Prince Ganaku, and Big L, stressed the significance of developing a memorable stage presence, using Black Sherif’s performance of “Kwaku The Traveler” at the 2022 3Music Awards as an example.

The Fireside Chat also served as a unique networking opportunity, allowing creatives to engage directly with the panelists and gain further insights from industry veterans.
