“Akufo-Addo’s promises have proven to be a scam” – Asiedu Nketia

In a recent event called “The True State of the Nation”, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) accused President Akufo-Addo of being dishonest with Ghanaians.

Mr. Nketia claimed that everything the President has promised during his tenure has turned out to be false. He added that Ghanaians cannot believe anything that the President says, especially during the current crisis.

Mr. Nketia also mentioned that President Akufo-Addo failed to deliver on his promise to build hospitals across the country under his ‘Agenda 111’. Additionally, Mr. Nketia accused the President of running down the economy and blaming it on the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors.

He argued that Covid-19 brought the country GH₵30 billion, which is not the cause of Ghana’s economic woes.

According to Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Ghanaian government misused GH₵18 billion that was meant to manage and mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He claimed that the government “wasted” this money on election-related expenses, rather than using it to support the country during the pandemic.

He also accused the government of excessive borrowing and reckless spending for election purposes, resulting in a disastrous deficit of 15.7% and a debt to GDP ratio of about 80% in 2020.

Mr. Nketia concluded that with these actions, Ghanaians cannot trust the government during these times of crisis.
