Visiting churches won’t help you – Ayariga tells Bawumia

A Deputy National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for frequently visiting different churches while the economy is struggling.

Osman Ayariga argues that the Vice President’s recent church visits will not benefit him and suggests that he should instead acknowledge his failure in managing the economy.

During an appearance on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, May 10, Mr. Ayariga expressed his opinion, stating, “He should stop moving from church to church. It won’t help him.”

However, Kofi Tontoh, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who was also present on the program, dismissed the comments made by the NDC official.

He questioned whether people believed that the Vice President simply woke up and decided to go to church, citing an instance when Dr. Bawumia was invited to the Obuasi Diocese of the Methodist church and he accompanied him.

Tontoh argued that Dr. Bawumia’s popularity in churches is a result of his unity and inclusiveness, while suggesting that the NDC is uncomfortable with the Vice President gaining support in religious circles.

He added, “It’s all about politics for the NDC. The Vice President is not a Christian. Has he formed a church?”
