LPG will win the elections if Mahama becomes NDC’s flagbearer – Kwaku Marfo

Kwaku Marfo, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has expressed confidence in his party’s chances of achieving a “cool chop” victory in the 2024 elections.

He believes that if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nominates former President John Mahama as its candidate, Kofi Akpaloo, the flagbearer of the LPG, will have an easy path to victory.

Disagreeing with the Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) prediction of a likely win for the opposition party, Marfo stated that if Mahama represents the NDC in the 2024 elections, the Liberal Party will have a favorable outcome.

He emphasized that Ghanaians are seeking change in the upcoming elections because they perceive both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC as lacking new ideas and essentially being two sides of the same coin.

Marfo argued that Ghanaians have come to realize that both major parties have treated the country as a business. These statements were made during an interview on Kumasi-based Hello FM.

The EIU report suggests that economic difficulties and poor leadership could create an anti-incumbency sentiment that may favor the opposition NDC. The report also highlights the likelihood of the new government facing similar economic challenges.
