Threads app set to add more features to improve user experience

According to Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, the company is considering adding an alternative home feed to its Threads app. This feed would display posts from the people each user follows in chronological order, rather than a mix of recommended content and posts.

The suggestion has received a positive response from users who have expressed frustration with the current feed. In addition to this feature, Instagram is also working on implementing the ability to edit posts, translation into different languages, and making it easier to switch between different Threads accounts.

The company is also working on creating a desktop interface for Threads and improving the search function. However, there is opposition to the plan of making Threads compatible with other social media platforms, such as Mastodon, due to concerns about the impact on the fediverse system.

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has expressed its intention to allow Threads to interact with other platforms using ActivityPub, but some users fear that this could lead to dominance by big tech companies.

Despite these concerns, Mastodon CEO Eugen Rochko sees Meta’s involvement as a validation of the decentralised social media movement. Furthermore, over a hundred Mastodon communities have joined the “fedipact” agreement, which aims to block Meta from accessing their community.

Lastly, it is worth noting that there are currently no advertisements on Threads, but this may change in the future.
